This half-day event, hosted at Blazing Star Prairie north of Lawrence, will include education about collecting and growing native seeds followed by a prairie walk guided by Frank Norman and Courtney Masterson, during which participants will help collect seeds. Following the walk, we will have a hands-on activity to up-cycle plastic bottles into planters that participants can take home. With very little active management, these planters will provide seedlings for spring planting in your local landscape.Refreshments will be provided and participants will take home field guides to aid in identifying native prairie plants and milk jug planters with native seeds.Courtney Masterson, owner of Native Lands, LLC is an Ecologist, Educator and a passionate advocate for native plants and ecosystems.
